Technology companies are facing major interruption to supplies in the wake of the tsunami and earthquake which have overwhelmed parts of Japan. The nation is home to several of the globes’ major high tech manufacturers.

Many of them have had to halt production to carry out security checks and the outlook of rolling blackouts means further disruptions are expected to over the coming weeks. Panasonic, Sony, Canon and Toshiba are among the organizations affected.

Panasonic Corp stated current aftershocks had prohibited it from inspecting 2 manufacturing plants in northern Japan. Sony said that it had voluntarily stopped operations at 7 manufacturing units, whereas the nation assesses the state of its power grid. The firm's Sendai Technology Centre in Tagajo, Miyagi Prefecture has also been closed down due to quake damage.
