In the plenary programme of EUEC year 2011, the United States of America’s biggest utility, energy and environment conference, Gina McCarthy, assistant administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Air and Radiation, is to function as the keynote speaker.

“This conference can be a distinctive forum where both leaders from government and industry collaborate and share suggestions to move the United States toward energy liberty and national security whilst decreasing carbon releases,” said Prabhu Dayal, EUEC Chairman in a press release.

“It provides networking and business growth opportunities with superior executives from most of the chief energy utilities, reputed environmental engineering and consulting firms and related government agencies within the U.S. The technical program provides over 600 world-class specialist speakers from different fields and backgrounds who present new technologies and ideas to adhere to current regulations and plan new corporate methods,” Dayal added.

Recently, the United States EPA declared a 2 year plan to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emission standards underneath the Clean Air Act for oil refineries and power plants. The agency plans to move ahead on GHG standards for petroleum refineries and fossil fuel power plants-two of the largest industrial sources representing almost 40 % of the GHG pollution in the United States. To continue with its schedule, the agency also plans to host listening sessions with the business community, states and other stakeholders in the first quarter of year 2011.
