A court in Ecuador has fined United State oil firm Chevron a reported $8bn for polluting a large part of the country's Amazon region. The oil company Texaco, which amalgamated with Chevron in year 2001, was blamed of dumping millions of gallons of toxic matter into unlined pits and Amazon rivers.
