SABMiller is to take a minority stake in Anadolu Efes (Turkish brewing group) as the 2 firms aim to increase sales in Russia, other previous Soviet states, the Middle East and Turkey. Under the deal Efes will shift a 24 percent stake in its business to United Kingdom-based SAB. No monetary details of the agreement have been unconfined.
Efes is Turkey's biggest brewer, and also makes soft drinks. SAB's beer brands consist of Pilsner Urquell, Grolsch and Peroni. Past month, it decided to purchase Australian brewing group Foster's for $10 billion.
SAB's CEO Graham Mackay whispered: "Anadolu Efes's leading position in soft drinks and beer in the Turkish market and an association for further acquisitions and growth in the Middle East and Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) are vastly attractive. "The predictions for these markets are brilliant." SAB also unconfined a trading declaration recently, articulating that its show for the first half of year 2011 was in line with market anticipations.
Its group-wide earnings raised by 6 percent, compared with the similar time previous year, assisted by "selective" retail cost increases. By volume, its worldwide lager sales increased by three percent. Nevertheless, they chop by 2.3 percent in North America, and had been flat in Europe. Sales in Asia increased by four percent, and they grew by fifteen percent in Africa and by eight percent in Latin America.
